TAKE TIME

I wasn’t sure I had time to walk this morning, but didn’t want to get out of the habit so I started out.  As I walked closer to Allenwood Drive, I decided to cut my walk short and just go straight on down Wood and home. I really didn’t have time to do the full circle.
I pushed up the road and across the Crestwood schoolyard arriving home rather breathless and somewhat upset with myself.

I had felt a bit rushed all morning even though nothing I had planned was of major importance, except it was Monday morning and the start of a new week. That old saying “so little time and so much to do” seemed appropriate for my attitude.  And then, as I plopped down on the bench in the garage to remove my wet tennis shoes, I thought of the closing hymn after yesterday’s worship service.

It had seemed a rather strange choice for the closing hymn.

Take time to be holy.” Time is such an issue in our daily life. We are so busy with things of life and holiness is not our goal.
“Speak oft with the Lord, Abide in Him always and feed on His word.”  Prayer at mealtime and bedtime seems sufficient.
“Make friends with God’s children.” We really don’t have time to get too close to people, and besides we can’t get too involved in other people’s lives in today’s society.
“Help those who are weak.” We certainly give to all the right organizations, but helping on a one to one basis takes so much time and effort.
Forgetting in nothing His presence to seek.”  God surely doesn’t want us to concern Him with the minor decisions. He has told us to pray without ceasing.

I sang the words again and realized they certainly were meant for the week ahead.  I reminded myself that I did have time if only I would stop long enough to listen. I encourage you to take a moment and walk a bit with the Lord today.

Just TAKE TIME TO BE HOLY.
